Before researchers embark on a study, they choose a topic

Before researchers embark on a study, they choose a topic.

Before researchers embark on a study, they choose a topic, define the research problem, and outline their questions. How are these three different/similar? Where does the research purpose fit in?

Before researchers embark on a study, they choose a topic

Read Chapter 4 and answer all the following questions but with any 2 of them more in depth

1. Before researchers embark on a study, they choose a topic, define the research problem, and outline their questions. How are these three different/similar? Where does the research purpose fit in? What do you think are some of the most important factors determining a choice of research topic and question? Did Merriam and Tisdell (2016) leave any out?

2. Start brainstorming some potential topics for your research project/study in this class (my topic will be in the field of exercise and education).

Perhaps, investigating the potential impact of physical education and activity on the social fabric in schools or

– to uncover insights on the extent to which teachers can use physical education to foster diversity and inclusion in schools.

A study I feel would seek to answer various critical questions; such as what is the average number of physical education sessions in a class? Which techniques do teachers employ in teaching physical education and do they encourage student cooperation? And how can people exploit information technology to promote and enliven physical education? Answering these questions will unlock the understanding of how to promote cohesion through physical education and to form an interpretation of material data.

These are a few ideas within physical activity and education, I am hoping that you will be doing my research paper when the time comes, thus feel free to to create our own questions within this field
What are you interested in knowing more about within the parameters of the project (e.g. you can’t study children or conduct research in schools unless it’s your own practice)?  For fun, craft two potential research questions given the advice on pages 78-79 and the example questions on pages 80-82.

3. Given Merriam and Tisdell’s (2016) explanation, what is your understanding of theoretical framework?

4. I know some of you are doing research (portfolio or thesis) in your Masters. If so, what theoretical framework/s will you likely draw from?

5. What did you learn about qualitative sampling reading the chapter? Was anything unclear? Thinking (again) ahead to your ideas for a research project in this course, which sampling techniques do see being ones you might consider?

Part B – 1 page

Also from week three readings (you may recall reading them but I will re upload), my prof said I did not complete all tasks, so I am including 1 additional page for this task
Read
Merriam and Tisdell (2016) chapter 2 and;
The short article by Tomaszewski, Zarestky & Gonzalez (2020)
1. Merriam and Tisdell (2016) describe six common qualitative methodologies. What do they all have in common? (Draw specifics and examples from the chapter and paper and incorporate these into your response).
2. After reading a brief description of each design, which would you be most interested in knowing more about? Why?
3. Did anything else in either the chapter or Tomaszewski et al. (2020) paper strike you as especially interesting or noteworthy?
