I don’t understand this Humanities question and need help to study. Expectations: This 750-word reflection piece (3 pages), worth another 10%, is an opportunity for you to think about what you learned during the Fall semester where you critically analyze the readings/films we explored together between September and December.
As your first reflection piece focused on the foundational theories of diaspora studies that we explored in the first three lectures, this reflection should focus on the readings or themes we covered in the Fall.
You can choose to briefly analyze one reading that you liked in relation to diaspora studies – Maus, The Coyote Columbus Story, Return to Sender, Lucy, Paul Gilroy’s Black Atlantic, Dionne Brand’s Land to Light On, and/or “Dirty Pretty Things” among others or you can analyze a particular theme that covers many readings – “Rewriting Histories of Displacement” and/or “Labor, Migration, and Politics.” Consult your syllabus for this. Ultimately, it is your reflection piece – you can choose to analyze any specific aspect of what we explored in the Fall.
This paper will be a space for your reflection – what did you learn that was new, how do you relate this particular film or novel to how it portrays particular diasporas, and in what ways, what are the broader themes in the work(s) you have chosen, what type of diasporas do they depict and how?
Examples of some questions you can tackle in your reflection: If you are looking at a theme (Labor, Immigration and Politics), you can compare how the labor of different diasporas are depicted in Lucy, Dirty Pretty Things, and Return to Sender.
If you are exploring a single work (Black Atlantic + Middle passage/Maus), you can study the trauma of the Jewish/ African American diaspora through the works explored.
These are some examples, but students can explore any questions in relation to diasporas in any/all of these works. 5. Do not plagiarize. Always cite works using MLA. You are expected to provide in-text citation using MLA (example – (Alvarez 112)). You do not need in-text citations for the films. In addition, please also cite all the works in a Works Cited or Bibliography section. Consult the MLA Guide for more information. IMPORTANT:-I am asking you to analyze The Middle Passage Documentary. Please analyze the African American Diaspora and key themes in the documentary. The Instructions are above. Please make sure to answer question 4 thoroughly. I have also attached The Coyote Columbus Story if you need to use it to for the analysis.4.This paper will be a space for your reflection – what did you learn that was new, how do you relate this particular film or novel to how it portrays particular diasporas, and in what ways, what are the broader themes in the work(s) you have chosen, what type of diasporas do they depict and how? -Please make sure it is MLA Format and work is cited correctly.
