For this assignment, you will compose a poem based on the topic of your research paper. This poem will appeal to the senses and emotions, but as with your research paper, it should also have intellectual appeal. You mission is to make a persuasive argument through your poem, so consider a variety of images and language that will win over your audience.                                                                                            A poet’s subjects are virtually unlimited, so be creative in your approach, but some restrictions apply. Your poem doesn’t need to rhyme, but it must… contain an extended opinion, either explicit like Shakespeare’s or implied like Roethke’s, that from beginning to end advances the poem’s central theme or message. be expressed in figurative language, metaphors, and/or similes. be spell checked and intelligible. be accompanied by a graphic that visually illustrates the theme. This can be the same graphic that you include in the research paper.
