issues that are currently dominating our cultural conversation and are at stake in the 2020 presidential election.
In this essay, please make an original argument about a contemporary cultural issue of your choosing. Please
be sure to clearly state your argument in a thesis statement at the end of your essay’s Introduction and then
elaborate that argument, offering your reader persuasive evidence, throughout the rest of the essay. For this
essay, you are required to incorporate research – hence the “synthesis” element of the assignment, as you will
be synthesizing the information from the research you collect and incorporating it in your essay to provide
support to your argument. Please be sure to conduct your research in reputable sources – academic journals
and respected news outlets will be far more persuasive than Wikipedia or personal blogs. Please cite a
minimum of five secondary sources in your essay. All citation should adhere to standard MLA format – be sure
to include parenthetical in-text citations as well as a Works Cited page at the end of your essay (the Works
Cited page does not contribute to the assignment’s page count)
