This assignment is a reflection paper based on my second clinical experience for public health at a POD administering Covid vaccines. The first time the experience was great, but this second time around didn’t go as expected. The school I attend teamed up with the Nassau Health Department like it did last time in giving us the opportunity to administer the first dose of the covid vaccine. The students were supposed to get trained on a retractable syringe that was going to be used on patients, we didn’t get the training. I freaked out when I gave my first patient the vaccine I thought the needle had went in the patient’s skin. I told my instructors. The patient didn’t believe the needle had retracted, she took pictures and I personally think she’s traumatized with her first dose of the covid vaccine. Also, had a male patient scared of needles. And a young patient who needed hand held because had fainted in the past when being given vaccines.
