1. Create 3 questions about Vocabulary in the Content Areas: Before reading the assigned chapter, create 3 questions, including at least 1 critical thinking question on your own. As you read the chapter, try to find the answers to your questions. What do you want to learn from the chapter? 2. Please respond to the following topics as well by focusing on your classroom application ideas: Morphemic analysis, context clues, Mnemonic strategies, and reference books for teaching vocabulary in the content areas, Vocabulary instruction for English language learners and refugee children, Computer programs and the Internet for teaching vocabulary in the content areas, Your top 5 vocabulary activities for teaching your content subject (Be very specific in listing vocabulary activities for middle- and high-school students when teaching your target content areas.) As you respond, please include: 1) A summary of the chapter and videos, 2) Your personal thoughts or reaction to the topic, and 3) Implications for teaching (How can you use the information presented here to help you?) 3. Present the answers to your own questions: Did you find the answers that you created before reading? Write down the answers to each question and indicate the sources where you obtained them (either from the chapter or from outside research on your own). If you could not find answers from anywhere, then ask your peers when you respond to other posts. 4. Keep the paper length requirement: Please elaborate your descriptions to meet a minimum length requirement of 5 pages, double-spaced (12-font). The paper should be written as complete sentences and grammatically correct with specific (not general) ideas and thoughts related to the guiding questions. It must include specific information from the course text and assigned sources.
